Summary:
Consistently performs high quality Ultrasound studies for our various patient
populations according to protocols established by Vascular Surgeon. Demonstrate ability to recognize and accurately document pathology
identified in scans.
In addition, under the guidance of the Medical Director of the Simulation Center, provides instruction,
assessment, and remediation of sonography learners; includes assisting with hands-on teaching, image interpretation, and ultrasound course
content creation for medical students and residents.
Position will hold a 60% Clinical and 40% Academic responsibilities.Â
Position Responsibilities:
Demonstrates thorough knowledge of Ultrasound equipment.
Performs a
preliminary evaluation for each patient. Obtains pertinent medical history prior to exam; obtains previous examinations and reports.
Reviews and verifies physician’s orders.
Prepares room as needed for procedures and willing to assist when needed.
Responds to changes in the work schedule.
Covers all shifts on a rotational basis and responds immediately on call when
contacted by Communications and arrives within the appropriate time.
Demonstrates appropriate and effective use of RIS and
hospital-based computer programs and adheres to all policies and practices regarding confidentiality of all electronic communications.
Adheres to Departmental procedures, fulfills compliance with life, safety, fire and hazardous waste requirements, Radiation Safety,
Infection Control requirements.
Maintains Licensure, participates in C.E.U’s. Performs Ultrasound procedures (Portables, E.R.,
General, and Vascular).
Maintenance of equipment/supplies, maintains paperwork associated with job function.
Maintains work
area.
Participates in clinical activities (i.e. assists with patient flow/care, performs various testing, assists provider etc.)
Participates in clerical activities (i.e. registration, scheduling, filing, telephones, pulling/preparing charts, faxing, Xerox
forms/ charts, fills out forms. Performs prior authorizations as needed.
Experience Required
Portables,
General, Vascular, 1 year experience preferred
Pelvic Venous US training preferred
Education Requirements
Certification from an accredited Sonography program required. Degree from accredited University
preferred.
License/Certification Requirements
- ARDMS Certification (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical
Sonographers) and RVT. Expected to acquire RVT certification within timeframe established by supervisor. - Either are required within
12 months of hire date: (Departmental extensions on a case-by-case basis based on job performance) - BLS
