An opportunity exists for a short term post in fabricating and testing a smart wound dressing for monitoring diabetic foot ulcers. The dressing incorporates optical fibre biosensors and measures biomarkers associated with wound healing and infection. The aim is to improve healing rates and reduce amputations. This project is funded by the Medical Research Council and a clinical investigation is underway at Derby Hospital.
We are looking for a research engineer, whose expertise lies in biomedical engineering and fibre optic biosensors.
We require you to be able to carry out duties to the highest standard and to achieve our project goals. You will:
- Fabricate and calibrate fibre optic biosensors
- Conduct clinical measurements
- Data capture and signal processing
We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and organised engineering researcher who is qualified to degree level in electrical and electronic engineering or relevant subject such as physics.
This post is available immediately and on a fixed-term basis until 31st March 2024. The role is available on a part time basis (20 hours per week). The successful candidate must be in post by 31st December 2023
