Research Assistant in Biomedical Engineering/Fibre Optic Sensing for Pregnancy Monitoring (Fixed term, Part time) at University of Nottingham

An opportunity exists for a part time post in developing and testing new optical fibre sensing devices for healthcare.  

We are developing a wearable device for pregnancy monitoring. The aim is to understand the causes of, and ultimately reduce, stillbirths. This project is funded by Wellcome Leap and involves close collaboration with our world-renowned Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre. We are looking for a research engineer whose expertise lies in biomedical and instrumentation engineering.  

We require you to be able to carry out duties to the highest standard and to achieve our project goals involving: 

  • Electronic circuit design and testing 
  • Fibre optic sensor instrumentation construction  
  • Conducting sensor measurements during MRI scanning 
  • Data capture and signal processing 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and organised engineering researcher who is qualified to degree level in Fibre Optic Sensing, Biomedical Engineering Electrical & Electronics Engineering or relevant subject area. 

This post is available immediately and on a fixed-term basis until 30th June 2024.  Hours of work are part time (20 hours).
