Job Description

Job Summary
The Nursing Department Chair is responsible for overall
administration, supervision, evaluation, and coordination of the Nursing Program. This includes budget preparation and evaluation, faculty
recruitment and evaluation, curriculum development, schedule planning, student recruitment, record keeping, formulation of policy and
procedure, evaluation of program effectiveness, and serving as liaison with other departments within ACC and the Colorado Community College
System. The Nursing Department Chair is responsible for helping to develop, implement, and monitor enrollment management and growth plans
for the nursing program, to enhance the use of simulation throughout the nursing program, and to implement the College’s program for
ensuring student success in the areas of persistence, retention, and completion.
The Department Chair responsibilities are in
addition to duties outlined in the faculty member’s job description. Additional information about faculty and Chair roles can be found in AP 3-80 Faculty Rights Responsibilities and Workload and AP 3-81 Chairs
Rights and Responsibilities. Department Chairs are responsible for teaching 8-10 credit hours (adjusted) per year and may teach up to
one course (3-5 adjusted credits) each semester as overload and up to 9 adjusted credits overload during summer term.
The Nursing
Department Chair works an additional 57 days on top of the 9-month contract/166 contract days in an academic year. Chair duties may rotate
every three years but are not term limited.

Required Qualifications
- Be a current ACC Nursing Faculty.
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Possess a current
unencumbered Colorado RN license OR possess a current, unencumbered RN license from another state AND have the ability to obtain an
unencumbered Colorado RN license by the date of hire. - Two years full-time, or four years part-time, experience teaching in an
approved nursing education program at or above the BSN level. - Two years full-time, or four years part-time clinical nursing
experience. - Leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience with online teaching and Learning Management System
(LMS).
**Current teachers applying to teach ACC campus-based, online, or concurrent enrollment CTE courses may include
non-teaching occupational hours that are older than the 5- or 7-year requirement if they have the required degree (and
license/certifications as listed) and a minimum of 3 years full-time teaching experience in the discipline/program or 6 years part-time
teaching experience in the discipline/program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in nursing or a
related field from an accredited institution. - Two years supervisory experience.
- Experience with curriculum development and
evaluation. - Working knowledge of rules and regulations for professional educational programs in nursing.
- Experience with
national nursing accreditation. - Understanding of adult learning theory concepts; ability to utilize these principles effectively in
the learning environment. - Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational
skills.

- This position operates in a standard office and/or classroom environment. Constantly
uses a computer and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc. - Cognitive demands include comparing,
copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal
skills. - The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to
exchange accurate information in these situations. - Occasionally moves, positions, and transports classroom equipment, up to 25
lbs.

Compensation
Information
The compensation range for the Nursing Department Chair is $25,197 to $28,386 for an additional 57 working Chair
days, based on the 2023-2024 hiring range of an NUR faculty, $69,433 -$78,789 for the initial 166 contract days within an academic year
(August – May). The Chair stipend is calculated using the actual base salary of the faculty member who holds the Chair role. This position
has been exempted from the State Classified System. AP
3-55 provides information regarding salary placement and adjustments.
