Maharashtra sees first Covid fatality in over a month, Health News, ET HealthWorld

Mumbai: The state recorded a COVID-19 death on Wednesday after more than a month of not registering any casualties due to the viral disease.

The death was reported from Thane district. The last COVID-19 death to be reported from the state was in July, where the deceased was a 75-year-old man from Mumbai. The state reported 33 new COVID cases on Wednesday, while Mumbai registered 11 cases.

There have been 130 deaths since January of which 73 per cent deaths have been reported among senior citizens. Upto 84 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities. Doctors said that COVID-19 cases are fewer in numbers, however, not many patients are opting to get tested.

As per state officials, there are 238 individuals under home isolation and 15 people currently in hospitals. Of them, seven are in ward and eight in ICUs. The weekly count of COVID cases has seen a slight rise.
