Faculty of Engineering
Qualifications and ExperienceÂ
The successful candidate must possess a PhD from a recognized university, which should be in Biosystems, Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.Â
Candidates should also possess:
- Ideally, at least three (3) years teaching experience
- Ideally, at least three (3) articles in reputable, peer-reviewed journals
- Expertise in the area of Field Machinery and Equipment
- Competence in the design of Traction and Power Hydraulics systems
- Evidence of organizing research in Biosystems EngineeringÂ
Candidates with the following would have an advantage:
- Experience in the supervision of research projects, preferably at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Proficiency in teaching courses related to at least two (2) of the following:
- Machine Drawing
- Design
- Smart Mechanisation
- Food EngineeringÂ
The following would be considered assets:
- Certificate in university teaching and learning
- Industrial experienceÂ
Candidates must be registered or able to register for Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer status.
Special ResponsibilitiesÂ
- Leading and strengthening the research and outreach activities in the Department, in particular Bio-systems (Agricultural) Engineering
- Supervising research students
- Teaching Traction and Power Hydraulics, Field Machinery and/or Intelligent Machine Systems and other related Mechanical Engineering courses such as Machine Drawing/Design, Dynamics and Mechanics of Machines
- Advising undergraduate students
- Engaging in the delivery and development of appropriate design projects
- Engaging in meaningful research and innovation activitiesÂ
