POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will provide staff support to the Assistant Dean for
Clinical Skills and Simulation Education, Coordinator, and lab faculty to assure the smooth operation of the Learning and Simulation
Center. The Lab Assistant will set up and take down equipment related to skill development stations for nursing courses that occur
simultaneously over the semester as well as nursing simulations, open labs, skills reviews, skill competencies and remediation sessions for
undergraduate and graduate nursing students. The Lab Assistant will maintain equipment in proper working order, order and maintain
inventory, and assist students with schedules and documents. The Lab Assistant will also manage the Assistant Dean’s procurement card and
other payable forms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Orders and stocks supplies in the exam tables, bedside
carts, and other designated areas on a regular basis
Maintains storage areas
Sets up rooms for simulations, labs and
events
Monitors the rooms during scheduled hours
Sets up simulations and turnover simulations during scheduled
events
Cleans up after labs, simulations and events
Cleans equipment including task trainers, models, IV pumps,
etc.
Prepares student packets, sign-up sheets and monitor student sign-ups
Assists the lab staff and faculty as
needed
Assists with inventory, schedules, student preparation documents, etc.
Generates timely monthly expense reports using
Chrome River for Assistant Dean’s procurement card, submits payable forms such as request for authorized payment.
Schedules and
reserves rooms using 25 Live
Maintains secure environment, lock facilities, etc.
Completes other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
Work requires a high school diploma or GED
Proficient in
use of technology including computer, Microsoft Office and internet
Preferred qualifications:
Certificate in
health field preferred: LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), CNA(Certified Nursing Assistant), or PCT (Patient Care Technician)
3-5 years
of experience in health field preferred
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience
and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not
limited to, the following:
Knowledge of equipment and supplies used in health field
Ability to work with a diverse
population
Ability to work independently and as a team
Self-motivated with the ability to plan, organize, and execute projects
with attention to detail
Proficient oral and written communication skills
