About the Role

The AIRC, established in 2017, fosters collaboration between industry and academia and this next phase of leading large multimillion pound research programmes, which coupled with industrial sized rigs, aims to address the significant challenges leading to zero emissions aviation.

This exciting role will have a significant impact on the shape and future direction of key industrial partner relationships such as with Airbus and Rolls-Royce, working closely with our Heads of Centre for Aeronautics and Propulsion & Thermal Power Engineering.  The focus of this role will be:

  • Integrated Programme management of large research projects and the operation and development of new strategic opportunities for the AIRC, drawing on research capability across the School and wider University community.
  • Maintaining & developing collaborations both nationally and internationally as well as within the university, generating ongoing research and commercial income for the university
  • Undertaking managerial and leadership responsibilities as appropriate.

About You

With a degree or Masters in an Engineering discipline you will be experienced in Programme Management, with relevant industry and academic experience.  You will have current knowledge of the strategic challenges facing the civil and defence aerospace sectors, and have experience and insight into research roadmaps and/or activities relating to addressing these challenges.  You will have significant experience of project and team management/leadership with an established track record in developing, securing, and leading significant research or commercial projects and income generation.  You will be able to demonstrate evidence in building and maintaining strategic industry or academic partnerships, as well as excellent project and time management skills.  Just as key are strong influencing, writing, communication, and presentation skills.
