Job Description Summary:
The
University of Kansas School of Nursing is seeking applications for the Franklin D. & Beverly J. Gaines Tipton Nursing Oncology
Professorship. This tenure/track position is to strengthen nursing oncology research and education for both the University of Kansas School
of Nursing the Cancer Center. The Professorship will focus on interprofessional teams and the underserved populations throughout the state
and the region. We are in search of highly motivated nurse scientist who employs innovative methods to tackle significant and demanding
problems in oncology, such as nurse navigation of oncology patients, especially in rural areas.

Job Description:
Employment Conditions: Nursing Candidates
must hold or be eligible for RN licensure in the State of Kansas and maintain licensure throughout duration of
employment.
Required Qualifications
Education/Licensure:
- PhD or equivalent research doctorate in
nursing or related field. - Candidates who are nurses must hold or be eligible for RN licensure in the State of
Kansas.
Work Experience:
- Experience disseminating scholarship through oral and written venues.
- Experience
teaching and leading an academic program. - Experience with oncology-related funded research from intramural and/or extramural
sources. - Experience working in interdisciplinary collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
Work
Experience:
- Experience leading curriculum development/revisions or research efforts in an academic program.
- Experience
working with diverse populations.
Required Skills:
- Excellent written communication skills.

Job Duties Outlined
- Establish, maintain, and lead an
externally funded oncology-related research program that addresses issues in critical cancer care such a nurse navigation of oncology
patients and rural cancer care. - Disseminate scholarly work in professional publications and presentations at local, state, national,
and international meetings, and through publications, town halls, and/or mass media to key stakeholders. - Teach in School of Nursing
programs according to educational preparation and program need. - Mentor and support both students and faculty in oncology-focused
research - Create oncology-focused learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students
- Collaborate with faculty at
KU School of Nursing. - Participate in course and curriculum development.
- Participate in service and citizenship activities
that support the School of Nursing and Medical Center’s clinical, academic, and research partnerships. - Develop and implement special
projects as necessary. - Other duties as assigned
