The Faculty – Nursing (Specialty Coordinator -Medical/Surgical) is responsible for the oversight of a core nursing content area and the associated clinical practicum experience associated with that course. This coordinator will focus on promoting achievement of student learning outcomes for the assigned course and will also work closely with adjunct clinical faculty in regards to their orientation and preparation for the clinical experience. This coordinator will also be responsible for evaluation of all clinical adjunct faculty assigned to that course and for recruitment and hiring of clinical faculty for the assigned specialty course.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:
- Provides leadership and lead instruction for assigned specialty course(s) and other supplemental courses as needed
- Assigns and schedules students for course work in these areas
- Provides laboratory and clinical instruction in core specialty areas and other areas as needed
- Assists the Director with curriculum planning, textbook recommendations, ongoing assessment and evaluation, and revisions for the assigned core specialty courses
- Assists with hiring adjunct clinical faculty for core specialty areas
- Provides orientation and mentoring of clinical faculty in core specialty courses
- Regularly meets with and evaluates bi-annually adjunct clinical instructors in core specialty courses
